Do you wince in pain when you indulge in your favourite ice cream or sip on a hot cup of coffee? You’re not alone. Tooth sensitivity affects millions worldwide and can put a damper on everyday activities. However, there’s hope for those with sensitive teeth in the form of desensitizing toothpaste.
Understanding Tooth Sensitivity
Tooth sensitivity occurs when tooth enamel wears down, exposing the underlying dentin. Dentin houses tiny tubules which lead to the tooth’s nerve center, making it more prone to stimuli such as cold, hot, acidic or sweet foods and beverages. When these stimuli reach the nerves, they can trigger sharp, temporary pain or discomfort.
