While some studies have demonstrated a decreased bacterial load associated with oil pulling, there is not enough clinical evidence currently available to concretely recommend oil pulling. Salvaggio Dentistry recommends the standard practice of brushing and flossing at least twice daily be met for oral care.

The most common type of crossbite involves upper teeth that are situated behind the lower teeth when the mouth is closed or when biting down. It may occur when the lower and upper jaws are not properly aligned. It may also be due to excessive crowding of the teeth, resulting in poor alignment.

Dry mouth can offer once in a while or often occur, resulting in a significant impact on dental health. It affects your ability to enjoy food and appetite as well in some cases.

How Is Dental Bone Loss Treated?

3D rendering of jaw boneBone loss in the mouth is not easily noticeable in the beginning stages because the bone is usually lost slowly over time. Since the gums cover the jaw bone, dental x-rays are the best way to detect bone and monitor bone levels in the mouth. When there is moderate to severe bone loss, the changes may be visible without the need for dental x-rays. With moderate bone loss, the teeth may become slightly loose and can be moved a small amount when pressure is applied. With severe bone loss, the teeth will be noticeably loose or mobile. As the bone levels shrink, the gums shrink with them as well, and this results in the teeth having an elongated look.

To avoid shrinking bone levels and gum tissue, it is essential to stop the underlying cause of the bone loss and replace the lost bone.
